A pod filter will do more harm than good in my experience. Air boxes are tuned for flow and resonance, and replacing them with a pod filter will hurt your throttle response and mid-range torque - costing mpg.

At WOT it may give you slightly more power, but it will hurt performance and MPG everywhere else.

Washable replacement filters like K&N aren't any benefit either from what I've seen, and usually don't filter as well as OEM-style pleated paper.
