How about 300,000 km. Or maybe a 1,000,000 like many cars I have seen, or even 1.5 million. I guarantee your engine won't make that distance.

To your point. I have increased the change intervals in the last few years from 3k miles to 5k then I am trying 10k miles. There are extremes to every preventive maintenance. There are also limits to the extremes.

You like to offer a counterpoint to every post in this thread, but you offered no counterpoint to my request for examples of engines where oil change intervals were ignored, which is your position. In one regard you are correct, spending money on oil changes while the rest of the vehicle gradually disintegrates could be a bad investment. There is a balance that would ideally find the vehicle going to the scrap yard with everything in a balanced state of deterioration.

While you may actually believe what you propose, I KNOW what the consequences of your actions will produce and have seen hundreds, maybe even thousands of examples of engines that died long before their time was due to neglect in oil maintenance.

But then you will be just another one of those thousands who learned the cost of neglect.
