I've also been "coasting" the stove, and the toaster and oven also. Frank Lee claims that when making pasta you can turn the heat off when the water starts to boil, then just let the pasta sit there in the hot water.

I've "coasted" the grinder in my bro-in-law's workshop - there is enough momentum for 15-25 revolutions, just enough to finish off the job.
