Maybe they were just quoting Motor Trend, who made the same claim (that in '95, the 4 liter I-6 had a torque peak at 4000 rpm). I cited the link earlier.
I should really learn my lesson by now, and realize that I shouldn't believe something is true just because I read it on the internet.
