I'm thinking that it's more voluntary ignorance that is the problem. "I don't know, and I don't want to know."
I just grin and bear it. And then mention that I'm getting near 50 MPG out of a car that I used to get 30 MPG out of.
"Dave, you're crazy! Turning the car off while driving? That's crazy!!"
"Yup, I'm crazy. But I'm also getting better use out of my fuel and my money."
