This is a good alternative to big mirrors for those that need to replace broken big mirrors, it all adds up to better FE potential. There won't be a payback in FE savings doing this alone but it is a good idea for those that can use it safely.
I'd guess there would be less of a visibility impact on the driver side though.
Are both sides required? Some vehicles came stock with only one on the driver side.
