Guess I wasn't clear: I didn't mean that there was a poor/fat link, but that the attitude towards practical suggestions for curing both problems is the same. So when one suggests that the obese can generally fix their problem with diet & exercise, the reaction is the same as when suggesting that education & thrift can fix poverty.
