I just started digging into this 2 days ago. Some things might not work for everyone as I can only test on a VW ISO and a Hyundai CAN.

The TXD is easy, it's always (AFAIK) you vehicle type prefix, the mode and the pid.

Prefixes:
ISO and VPW: 686AF1
PWM: 616AF1
CAN: 070E

For the mode and pid refer to this wikipedia article

You can have a look if your ECU responds to a pid by going to the cmds screen in sg and sending the TXD (for my VW ISO) or just the mode followed by the PID (for my CAN).

I suggest you read this Xgauge coding document. Feel free to ask questions afterwards and I'll try to help.

The hard part is actually finding the PID and knowing what it is for, and then figuring how to display the response. It's easy for standard OBDII PIDs as it's well documented. But other specific PIDs implemented by manufacturers (the ones that would probably be really interesting) are harder to come by.
