It would be interesting indeed, to see what the engine would pull in a sleeker 2wd vehicle.
Often when I get fuel, I stop at a station on the outskirts of town and then have a pretty much non-stop and flat terrain trip ~10 miles home @ 50mph until the last mile which has one stop and drops to 35 and then 25mph.
On this route I've logged a best of 38.9 mpg.
