As I mentioned in post #96, for that to happen (carb outperforming FI) I believe the FI map must not be precisely adjusted. That is pretty common.
Once adjusted properly, I'm convinced the FI unit will outperform the carb unit - not just in HP, but also in efficiency where the throttle openings are minimal.
Usually, tuning a FI system requires an adjustable aftermarket fuel control unit like a Bazzaz or a Power Commander. In some ways it is more involved than changing carb jets, but in other ways it's easier - tuning with a black box and a laptop instead of pulling the carb (s) and replacing jets.
I own both carbed and FI cycles, and have no problems working with either, but I feel FI systems provide more accurate fuel delivery and efficiency.
