I have always heard about the toughness of any late 70's Toyota.
I would put them in 2nd place behind the '60's Mopar 225 in any body style.

Older Volvo's probably about 3rd place.

Honorable mention to the Ford Fairmont. I personally knew 2 people that had these; one was a died in the wool Chevy man who told me he was ready to replace it, but it kept working fine.

I have had the experience of driving a Fairmont wagon w 302 V8 as a company car.

Very fun, fast, handled well; and quite the sleeper!
