The heater it's self is made in China, the piece of wood that is glued on top is milled in a factory in an area with Amish and high unemployment because their religiousness beliefs don't keep them from taking a job and it's not really a trap or a trick, it does produce heat and if you turn your thermostat down in the rest of your house it will save you money, in the same way that turning your thermostat down and turning on an electric heater that is set next to your feet always does.
