from what I have heard the ecu is able to do it. thats one of the reasons bosch has made the wide band. look a your sensor to see how many wires it has, If I recall correctly 3or less and your able to improve. check the innerweb I dont remember the site but a miata post explains the upgrade/good pictures and should work the same on other models
