Lots of planes flew and canoes floated - both well and from fabric over frame construction. Between patch mesh frame and stretchability of fabric compound curvature can be achieved better than sheets of coroplast, foamboard, luan, aluminum, etc. The devil is always in the details but the basic idea has merit.
