The anecdotes on this topic are numerous, so let me add one. Some have tried to validate it with an ABA type test, so when the acetone was added, there was a slight mpg increase, but when the acetone was removed (for the second baseline), the mpg gain did not track. At best, there is a cleaning effect, but most likely it's a placebo.
