I held out so long for an HX or VX to come up on the market, but I ended up settling with the LX.
I would also say no to the intake. For high-RPM grunt, sure, it will improve HP slightly. But for fuel efficiency, I'm pretty sure the rule is "warm is better" such as a short ram or a warm air intake.
