I was just wondering what the northbound distance on the grapevine is. It's been a while since I drove it, but I remember coasting for ages and being passed like I'm standing still by triple trailer semi trucks.
Longest coast is probably coming off Mt. Rainier or Mt. Hood. Might be as long as 10mi or possibly more. I've always loved mountains because it is a forced pulse and glide. Pulse up the mountain, glide back down. I've had 34mpg tanks in my Subaru thanks to mountain driving.
My 7 mile 1-way commute includes about a 1mi coast home with some smaller ones thrown in.
