There was a time just a few years ago when my goal was to drive more than 500 miles on a tank of gas. Now I can say that I drove over 500 miles on a tank in 12 months out of 13 -- I missed by slightly less than 20 miles on my only tank fillup in January. I only pumped ~11.1 gallons, so I could have done it if the timing was different -- I like to always use the same gas station, and I was headed out on a longer drive that day.
I set a new high this past year: 55.2MPG and 616 miles on a tank -- I averaged over 52mpg from June through August, and so far my low for the winter was 42.5mpg. And I am still 50% over EPA over the past 90 days.
My mileage is a nearly perfect indicator of the air temperature. Especially since my average drive distance is now much shorter than it was a few years ago.
