Placing any faith in a salesman is generally foolish. Their job is to convince you to part with as much of your money as possible. That goal is in direct conflict with principles of honesty and integrity. That said, Mcrews brings up a good point that the salesman may not have been lying since the sticker had the incorrect information. Lying requires intent to deceive, and has nothing to do with the accuracy of the information.
