I think you're confusing the transit connect with the regular transit van which is huge compared to the econoline. I can't believe the overweight and undersized econoline suvived this long to be honest.
This is the van that will be replacing the econoline, not the connect which is currently sold in the US. Its produced in FWD, RWD and AWD versions, all diesels. The LWB high roof model makes the econoline look like a toy.
