easier to adjust the throttle cable to just never get more then 1/2 throttle.

Interesting enough, below about 3000 rpm half throttle gives plenty of air for "full power" if you are not willing to enrich. Below that RPM half throttle flows enough air to pretty much eliminate vacuum.

go buy a vacuum gauge or scan tool - pretty fun to have a buddy drive around and watch what is happening..... too much info to do the driving yourself and watch the gauges and be safe.
