Thanks a bunch for your help today, MetroMPG. As for cgf83's post on alternate routes, the route I take is the fastest and often the quickest and shortest but occasionally, it becomes backed up beyond disbelief so I take another route that is slower on average but more consistent, however also longer with more turns since its not as direct. The nice thing about the main route i take is that if there is no traffic, i can get a green light almost every time at around 45mph and get home in 17-19 minutes compared to the 25 to 35 minutes during the 8am and 5pm commutes. Commuting on this same road for 3.5 years now, I have gotten to know it well and its lights, traffic, etc that I can efficiently run through it and anticipate the lights so as to avoid stopping unnecessarily.
