I think the 2.8 was only made in the small 60 degree bell housing pattern,
There is a 3.2 block that replaces it in pretty much all the rigs that used the 2.8. Now its possible Pontiac did something weird, but the Fiero was intended to be a scrap bin car from the beginning, to keep its cost down. It uses parts from lots of GM cars.
The 4 cyl was the classic Iron duke...
I'd check the replacement long block part number between the Fiero and a S10 blazer... Same year.. Any standard auto parts store should be able to tell you if its the same number. (Bet its on the internet as well...)
