Wearing a helmet and using a rearview mirror have been a big help for me in traffic. The helmet and the use of hand signals indicates to drivers that I am a serious cyclist that is paying attention. Thank God that in over fifty years of bike riding and thirty years of driving I have never been in a personal injury accident. As I design bicycle fairings I am looking for ways to protect the rider.
