my crx hsa manual tran. brakes, and steering. In the mountains I often coast for 5 miles or more. when you restart it, simply choose the gear that matches the speed, and let out the clutch. you are not trying to "pop" the clutch. it should be just as smooth as changing gears. the engine parts are still coated with oil, and the engine remains heated. if anything, I believe there would be less wear on the engine because a lot less explosions have occured in the combustion chamber. I have a carburetor, and I coast anywhere I can.
