Best way to feed cooling air to the brakes, or for that new BMW side curtain vent, is ducting from the stagnation point at the nose, center.
The 2012 Prius deflector shown above is very crude. Coulda had a combined wheel fairing/duct that would have been much more efficient means of fairing the wheels, while simultaneously cooling the brakes.
