engine oil filters are almost always about 30 microns.

fuel filters are 3 to 11 microns.

The stuff which makes oil black is little chunks of carbon floating around. The carbon is soft and gooey and won't hurt your engine, and it does burn quite well.

However, the carbon goo will plug your fuel filter. Myself, I would recommend a 5 micron filter for the used motor oil.

and as to no smoke, how dare you base personal knowledge against the collected wisdom of all the armchair tailgunners who deign to help you.
