Thanks for the advice everybody! The thing I love about this site is the willingness of the members to share their knowledge with others.

Here is what I have done so far with my s10:
Tune up
synthetic oil
changed driving habits
folded back rear view mirrors

I have been able to consistently see 30-31 mpg with these steps alone. I plan on purchasing a scangauge soon, so I can refine my driving habits even further. I am also planning some aero mods for this summer. I found a thread where a guy with an s10 covered his rims with cheap pizza pans and gained about 1.3 mpg on average.

My current goal is 35 mpg.
