Spun rod bearing.
Phenolic cam gear broken.
45 degrees is not much movement, probably not something hitting any piston.
Pull the distributor make sure it's not locked up.
Valves can not hit pistons no matter what, unless the head is broken off.
Pulling the heads may be your best bet, and nothing could be easier to pull the heads on.
