Festiva/VW compatibility test

I alluded in other posts that while stripping parts off my VW and my Festiva that are destined for the junkyard, I noticed some similarities between the parts.

I decided that instead of swapping my (daily driver) Festiva to a BP (Escort GT) engine, I'm going to focus on figuring out how to swap one of my numerous VW engines into it, based on the compatibility of parts I noticed.

I'll keep this thread updated as I work on it. The first part of this is swapping parts from the VW over to the (junk) Festiva front end as a "mock up" swap to figure out what all needs to be done.

As I need parts made, I'll be "begging" on this forum and FordFestiva.com for anyone with necessary experience to help "the cause" free or cheap enough.

I'm not sure of the real dimensions yet, but I will need some bushings made for the lower ball joints first and foremost. Anyone with some machining experience and access willing to donate a couple pieces of scrap and some mill time?
