Well, it seems that the point of EGR is to reduce combustion temps for the purpose of reducing NOx. Maybe it doesn`t need EGR because mediocre compression ratio (8.9:1) and volumetric efficiency (only 335ft*lbs from a 5.9l?) mean the temps aren`t that high anyway. Or maybe they spent a few extra bucks on good catalytic converters to neutralize that stuff. I could be wrong.
