Didn't see this mentioned here or anywhere. The two retaining nuts for 5th gear are 30mm, which in my experience is a difficult size socket to find on the fly. It's a standard axle nut size, but the parts stores near my local boneyard didn't have any stocked.

It takes a lot of torque to get it off, so get yourself an impact socket, and take your longest breaker bar and a long enough extension to get it out of the wheel well. My first two attempts at pulling an S*1 5th gear have not been fruitful, but I'm determined to get that sucker soon.
