I did this on my land rover discovey, 3.9lv8 engin. With 2 cylinders deactivated I (driving sensibly) I saw no difference in FE or pOwer. With 4 cylinders I saw a big jump in FE but the truck was dangerously slow and gutless. I don't remember my numbers but something like 30% better FE on highway. If I were to do it again I would have th fuel injectors on toggle switched and only switch hem off at speed. From a standstill I barely made it up a hill

Having said that I eventually started shifting the auto tranny for every gear and it became better. With a manual tranny it would be no problem.

Don't jump outany two cylinders, make sure they're even on your firing order. Say for 1-3-4-2 jump out 1&3 to keep th firing somewhat balanced.

Don worry about disconnedting the spark plugs, they don't do a thing.
