"Performance" fuel pumps generally only offer higher flow-rates and pressures than "normal" ones. Other than that, no advantage.

I've never seen a fuel pump marketed specifically for efficiency, although there are types of pumps which are more efficient than the rotor-vane pumps generally used in the automotive industry.
