At $3.50 a gallon and 10 MPG, just toss a quarter and a dime out the window every mile and you get the picture fairly quick.
12 MPG saves you a nickel a mile.
70 MPG cost you a nickel, saves 30 cents a mile. $30.00 per hundred miles adds up quick.
The whole topic to me seems ludicrous, a huge debate about whether you are tossing 35or 30 cents out the window. Get a CBR 250 R for $4k and toss 4 cents a mile out the window.
At 4 cents a mile you save $3100 per 10k miles, $31,000 in 100 k miles in fuel cost. I have no problem grasping those numbers.
