Holy thread resurrection, Batman!
Well, it's been almost a year, but I'm trying this again.
I bought a set of 4 CCI Impostor chrome wheel skins, and 5 each 16 inch aluminum pizza pans. (One of the pans is actually doing duty as a pizza pan... heh) The wheel skins are designed to click into place over the aluminum rim, and I'd been testing one of them to my satisfaction for several months. There's a lip around the outer edge of the skin, and the pizza pans fit perfectly within this lip.
Drilled a hole in each of the pans for the valve stem, sanded down the outer part of the skins and the edge of the pizza pans, then held three of the pans in place with some sort of urethane "window weld" for gluing windshields. The 4th one is being held in by JB Weld epoxy. After that, I drilled 5 sets of holes through the pizza pan/wheel skin combos, near the rims, and ran zipties through the holes. These should serve as a backup securing device for the pizza pans, should the epoxy or urethane not hold.
Tomorrow, they go to work and back. We'll see if this will hold or not.
