read up on any one of the many hydrogen threads that are already out there, in one of them you will find where I did the math to figure the cost of hydrogen and how it's like paying... I think it was like spending over $30 per gallon equivalent in gasoline to produce from shore power (wall outlet) or over $80 per gallon equivalent if you produce it with energy from the gasoline engine, now think about how solar if pointed AT THE SUN has a 7 to 20 year pay back depending on the system, your location and if it's tied in to a battery system at all, on your car you are driving for maybe an hour per day but closer to half an hour per day with at least 4 hours per day of sun if not more and there is no saying that any of that drive time is when it's sunny out and if you mount solar panels flat (not pointing directly at the sun but instead facing UP) you can pretty much cut their output in HALF so your 20 year payback turns in to a 40 year pay back and that is if you are using or storing the energy as it is produced! because of the high cost of gasoline produced electricity, your pay back to off set the alternator use is going to be much quicker, so if you just offset the electrical demand of your gas engine you might see a pay back of 2-3 years or 15 to 20 times as fast as your pay back from not putting that extra electrical load on your gas engine, and if you read up on hydrogen you will see that the electrical load from producing hydrogen is doing very very very little to improve your gas mileage while reducing your electrical load by doing an alternator delete can improve your mileage by a solid real 10%
