I'm not sure about Canadian emissions regs. I think they're basically the same as US, but I'm not sure. In the US, there were no DPFs before 2007. DPF's require ultra-low sulfur diesel (<15 ppm sulfur), which wasn't on the market until the MY 2007 vehicles started coming out.
