A few weeks ago I took a trip to North Carolina to pick up a 2002 Golf TDI with a manual transmission. I had been wanting one of these for years but could not afford/find one. To make a boring story short I found one and purchased it.

My first tank was at 42.2 all highway with big hills for 500mi then to work 196mi round trip mostly highway (filled before getting home). I did not take it easy on the car just had some fun and getting used to driving a manual as for the 10yrs I have been driving I have only driven automatics, I did know how to drive a manual but only had 50mi under my belt.

The remaning tanks in my fuel log are from a fairly consistant drive to and from work about 98mi each way on highways at 70-75mph. So far my tank average is 43.93 my old car the average was 25.8 a good increase of 70%.

I will continue to work on getting better mpg and I will use this post to track my goals and sucesses along with listing my modifications.

Goals completed:
700mi tank
800mi tank 50mpg*

Goals for the future:
Doubble the avg MPG of my Bonneville 25.8*2=51.6mpg
Doubble the BEST MPG of my Bonneville 30.18*2=60.4mpg

55mpg
60mpg
(Tank holds ~16)
900mi tank 56.25mpg
1000mi tank 62.5mpg

I found a station that has BioDiesel that is blended between B5-B20 so I hope to get those goals on a Bioblend.
