Howdy all.

I know my title is "lurker" but I've only been looking at this forum for about a week now so I haven't been lurking long. Came up with the idea of converting my 1970 Dodge Charger to a serial hybrid about a month ago and started digging around on the internet looking for info, which of course brought me here.

Current plan (open to suggestion/critiques/whatever) is to use some AC motors (cheap is good, but performance is best...it is a muscle car afterall) coupled to the transmission for motive power, and then build up a diesel generator for "cruise" electrical power (small diesel engine with enough power to drive genny for enough juice to power the drive motors at highway speeds, plus a little overhead and enough to overcome all the inefficiencies). Battery pack of some sort for the excess juice required for max power accelleration. I'll prob start another thread to go into more detail on the project and to get some good feedback/suggestions/advice on the details.

I've seen some very interesting threads here, particularly about the homemade controllers (like Paul and Sabrina's DC controller and the AC controller Paul is working on now) that I will be following now that I'm registered. Anyway, this looks like a good group of people and I look forward to reading and participating with y'all.

Doug
