Hypermiling has always been a thing I was interested in (got 32 out of the 4.0L mustang with full mods and a light driving foot) and recently bought a 2005 350Z. about 300 horsepower, and it WILL be modded heavily, for MPG first of course. I've thought about replacing the 6th gear ratio with one that will drop the cruising rpm's down to a low number. at 75mph, I'm going 2800rpms on my engine. Mileage is of course important, so I've driven it softly for the last couple weeks, and gotten 25mpg overall in the Z. There must be more!!! If anyone has some ideas about what I should do to my car, let me know, as I want it over 30mpg's. A car's gotta look good too, while getting awesome gas mileage. I'm actually a licensed police officer (a major change in my life, as I truly want to help people), so the car will still need to be fast, and accelerate quickly. MPG is more important than acceleration, but I would like to have the best of both worlds. Car is completely stock, so if anyone had some opinions about it, I would be more than happy to hear them. Thanks!!!

Should I start my own forum, since I am throwing a real sports car into the picture? Everyone's opinion is appreciated
I don't want to be rude, but throwing in a real sports car? Because if so, when you were typing Lotus or Ferrari or Lamborghini, or Nissan GTR, 350z came out...

287 hp at the engine, not wheels, seven years ago is not around 300hp. At wheels, 250 would be a higher estimate.

And as for handling, the Z prior to 2011 reportedly had terrible handling for the money, very spongey and soft. Not all people like a back breaking stiff, hops on bumps, feel the road ride. But it's desired for a sports car when used for sportiness. IF you had 250 hp at the wheels, your hp / lb ratio doesn't really blow anyone away here.

We here are the closest thing to sports cars on the forum. Not so much us being Ford GTs and Gallardos, rather, as much as we to get good mileage, quoting Mustang Dave, sometimes we have to put spurs to our Pony...

Maybe a nicer way to get started with a new group of people regarding sportiness and performance would be to tell us more about youself in a humble manner, some ideas you have for mods for yourself, and asking us about our mods and any tips, tricks or ideas.

I mean, I don't really see a Honda Fit as a sports car, to be honest, but how does he drive it? What mods are planned? Maybe his budget is more strict, or he NEEDS better mileage and that is his price range. Clearly we prefer more sport than efficiency, but there's no reason to throw that out there. :/
