Air cooled do have an advantage in fuel economy (and they're cheap) as long as they don't get cooked. The highest head temps coolant can sustain are 190-200F whereas air cooled can get away with 340F. Less waste heat taken from the combustion chamber. If you can keep your streamliner from cooking the air cooled cylinder or your crotch.
