I don't mean to get technical, but from the first movie, which all autonomous robots are GMs, I
believe they had differing political views, megatron wanted to rule the planet, and autobots wanted to live in peace.
They destroyed their world, and shifted to earth by accident. Autobots are fair and equal to humans, non auto bots don't care about humans.
