I want to make one final point on the cone filter mod. I THINK that the gain is due to increased air flow probably because the the molded in bellmouth shape inside the filter vs the straight pipe of the OEM airbox.

Conclusions focus on power gains...OF COURSE.
Evidence of this increased airflow might have been seen from the need to set the trip fuel used DOWN in my SG for the two refills after doing this mod. As I understand it...the SG calculates fuel used FROM the air flow measured at the AFM. Increased flow resulted in the SG calculating more fuel being used than actually occurred?
So if anyone wants to try this mod...you need to see inside the cone filter to be able to check for the bellmouth shape. I think these type cones can be found at Advance or Autozone for $25-30.
The results might be a figment of my imagination and/or they might be specific to the Focus. If your car does not have a bellmouth intake and the cone filter you install does...you MIGHT see an mpg gain.
Anyone fixated on ABA testing probably will not see the salient points.
NOTHING in life is certain...except for death and taxes????
The one exception though are ABA tests of course.
...
I don't expect to be doing a lot of modding in the future...just testing a few mostly easy to do things mostly involving improving combustion efficiency. Won't post them on this forum due to the arguments. I probably save $50 / month on fuel...so it's a hobby...not a job. More aero mods are not going to be happening...though I've done them in the past with my Batmobile 300ZX...vortex generators..air dam...fender skirts...all in black.
