If people are running their budget so thin that a 70 cent increase in fuel prices ruins them, they were destined for ruin all along.
I save money by purchasing used vehicles from a private party, find the cheapest fuel with the GassBuddy app, and just generally avoid spending money in the first place. For example, I've never bought a bottle of water while in the States.
