The body is mounted to the frame and cushioned by bushings (rubber biscuits; sometimes called cushions).

The steering gear (shaft from wheel to steering gear box and the "rods" past that it operates) has wearing parts. Time & miles.

The front suspension on a Ford is a little different, the "Twin I-Beam". The FORD boards online ought to have vendors they can recommend who stock "front end rebuild kits" for decent prices. A copy of the FSM (Field Service Manual) is invaluable (not the CHILTON or HAYNES manuals, they lack too much detail). Possiblly someone has it as a download for your year model, but I'd buy the paper version.

I'm not FORD knowledgeable, but there are many who are. Those vehicle enthusiast boards (FTE? and others) can point you in the right direction with what to buy, what tools you'd want (this is grunt work), and likely best other things to do while the motor is out.

If ever you've seen a nice older pickup on the road and admired it, then you're following in those footsteps.

New seatbelts ought to be the first things bought, and brakes/tires the first place to put money. Safety first, and FE second. They really do work hand-in-hand.
