i just replaced the trans in my moms 95 civic for the input bearing noise. it sounded terrible!! one thing i noticed when i had them next to eachother, i grabbed the old one and i could move the input shaft up and down like an eight of an inch. i tried the same thing on the junkyard trans i got and it didnt move at all. makes no noise.
