Block heater '86 CRX HF in Seattle?

Hello,
New to hypermiling. Just scored a virginal '86 CRX HF and am trying to maximize fuel economy without irreversible mods. I'm curious about cost vs reward on installing a block heater in my Rex. I live in Seattle and have a 37 mile commute each direction to work. Since the CRX is carbureted, I'm hopeful that the block heater will help with the choke on startup. I could easily plug in at work as well, so no worries there.

I'm looking for feedback from those with similar vehicles that have had positive results with similar setups. Honda doesn't sell their block heater for such an old model, so I'm stuck with aftermarket stuff. Apparently NAPA sells one, but the lady on the phone was unclear if it screwed in (drain plug) or mounted on the side of the block. Also, she asked if it was a 1.5 or 1.6, and I'm pretty sure the 1.6 didn't start until '88 (right?).

Any input/assistance will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

CB
