Well, consider pipe tobacco smoke smells lots better than cigarette smoke, it's still not healthy.

Grilling causes a lot of carcinogenic risks. Up to you if you want to eat yours (burned surface), but it would be kind of hypocritical to regulate automotive exhaust without regulating all kinds of commercial emissions.
