Larrybuck, my average mileage is about the same as yours. If I ever need something like the Subdivision in the link on my original post, I'd probably rent one. The OP was not meant as any reflection on anyone here or anywhere else. It was more of a simple mathematical evaluation of the rationale for owning anything like a vehicle of that size, AND DRIVING IT ALMOST HALF A MILLION MILES IN JUST OVER A DECADE.

There is no way 99% of people, at least those around here, can rationalise that kind of waste to me and I built two houses from scratch and hauled a lot of the materials in a pickup truck. Sold the truck when the house was built.

I have a pickup truck I could do without, and 4 more motorcycles than I really need. The Fiesta could go as well and leave me with one bike and the beat up old Ranger and I would be just fine, and average probably close to 60 MPG overall with another 16k in the bank.

No one here should take this post personally. You make your choices and you pay the cost of those choices. Being raised by an accountant, I just learned to focus on the real cost of things. Housing, transportation, and food eat up a heck of a lot of monthly income and I would hope some of the visitors to this site would see this thread and maybe rethink their vehicle purchase in a different light.

regards
Mech
